I have several ideas for this website that I want to implement, but until I get to them, I am using this space in hopes of finding a book: The book is a novel from which the movie Stacy was based. ![]() Stacy, or Stacy: Attack of the Schoolgirl Zombies, is a 2001 Japanese movie in which girls around the ages of 15 - 16 begin to die and become zombies. If you are interested in buying it or learning more, it is available from Amazon.com through the link in the above photo, or you can check out the details at IMDB. I am looking for the novel the film is based on and I am having problems. One problem is that as far as I know, the book was only ever available in its original Japanese text. I have been searching online new and used bookstores, eBay, Amazon, etc. I have used variations of the author's name, and have found some books by him, but they do not seem to be Stacy. In fact, I am not sure that Stacy is the title of the book. Here is what I know: Author: Kenji Otsuki His surname appears as Otsuki, Ohtsuki, Ootsuki. As in Japanese, the surname often appears first, i.e., Otsuki Kenji. Title: Stacy (?) I can't be sure. I have read that the movie is based on the book, but I have not seen anything that specifically notes the title of the book. Why do I want it? I am hoping to apply to graduate school to get a Ph.D. in Film Studies. Stacy relates to two of the application requirements: I need to know 2 foreign languages and I need to submit a 20-page critical paper showing my research capabilities. One of the languages I want to learn is Japanese. I am currently in pursuit of this goal with some personal cultural studies and will soon start with language studies with Rosetta Stone and additional materials. While Stacy seems an odd choice for a research project, it is exactly its oddness that makes me want to do my study on it. It is not the typical film, nor the typical Asian film. That very fact, I believe, will help my paper stand out, because I will take a very serious look at a very unserious movie, relating it to the book, psychology, pop culture, etc. Of course I need the book, and the ability to read the book. I anticipate it will take a while to find the book, and I even contemplate the possibility of needing to travel to Japan to search out used bookstores to find a copy. So if anyone happens upon this page, I would be ever so grateful for any assistance. Right now, I do not read Japanese, so searching Japanese-text websites is impossible for me. If anyone can even just let me know they can see copies of the book available online, can provide the author's name and the title of the book in Japanese characters, or can recommend some service that might exist where I can request a search through Japanese bookstores to find a copy, I would be very grateful. I can be reached through Will Hays ![]() Create Your Badge or the email address appearing in the above widget. If emailing, please put something in the subject line about your email being in regard to my Stacy Query. I have some of my webmaster emails going to my hotmail account, which unfortunately caused a flood of junkmail, so please use a subject line that will easily let me know your email is not junk. Again, thank you in advance for any assistance. |
